Cable Luxe Side

I love it! Cozy and warm and it fits me better than any other sweater I own. I'm glad I like it because I've been knitting this thing since OCTOBER, and that's a long time to find out if a knit makes you happy or not.

As happy as I am with the results, I can't help but analyze the silhouette of it in comparison to the Pringle of Scotland sweater that it is inspired by. I've had the picture (grabbed from NewYorkMinknit) as my desktop image for 5 months now as motivation and I am so very tempted now to knit another one, in a bulky yarn with the exaggerated swing shaping and more accurate cables. Knowing what I know now, and using a bulkier yarn it would go much faster. Tempting, but I think I'll hold off on that idea until next fall.

I think it looks great! By the way, that Pringle sweater is the number one source of referrals to my blog from all over the world. I think everyone wants to make it, but what separates the real knitters from the rest of us pretenders are the people who actually make it! :)

I'm not a huge fan of School Products (it's got a weird vibe, I think), but if you make a chunky one, you might consider seeing if they have some cones of chunky cashmere there, because I think that might be what makes the Pringle one especially luscious. But I think for daily life, the straight silhouette you made is more useful.

PS I am inspired to make one too, though maybe with a plain bottom? I am barely making it through my plain stockinette sweater though, so maybe I need to set lower goals.

I think that's the right idea.... if I make it again, I'll want to use a really luscious yarn. Cashmere!

I have some tear sheets of the Pringle sweater somewhere, but whenever I google it yours is the first pic that comes up of decent quality. The runway pic just isn't good enough.

That looks absolutely FABULOUS!!! I started that sweater and, even though it's not *that* hard if you can do cables, for some reason I kept loosing count while doing the yoke. It's hibernating for now until my brain decides to work right. :-)
